MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Modeling tool

X-Ray Mode

Make model surfaces translucent so internal and overlapping geometry can be inspected without changing the CAD model.

Purpose

Make model surfaces translucent so internal and overlapping geometry can be inspected without changing the CAD model.

Where to find it

In Model, use the X-RAY pill at the lower left of the viewport.

Selection

  • No selection is required. X-Ray Mode changes the presentation of visible model geometry.

Steps

  1. Tap X-RAY to enable the see-through display.
  2. Press and drag horizontally on X-RAY to adjust strength; use the temporary percentage readout as feedback.
  3. Orbit or zoom to inspect internal geometry, then tap X-RAY again to turn it off.

Options

X-Ray On / Off

Tap toggles translucent viewport presentation without changing materials, History, or exported geometry.

The active X-RAY control displays the current strength on its lower rail beside Object Select.
The complete Model workspace shows X-RAY at the lower-left corner and its 50 percent strength readout.

X-Ray Strength

Horizontal dragging changes the see-through strength from 1 to 100 percent; dragging right increases it and dragging left decreases it.

Overlapping box and cylinder bodies rendered with X-Ray strength set to 50 percent.

Result

Visible model surfaces are rendered translucently for inspection while the persistent model remains unchanged.

Editing

Adjust strength with another horizontal drag or tap the X-RAY control to return to normal display.

Troubleshooting

Tapping X-RAY changes the mode but not the strength.

Press and drag at least a short distance horizontally across the control; a tap without a drag only toggles the mode.

An export or rendered material is still opaque.

X-Ray Mode is a Model viewport inspection aid. Change the material or Preview settings when the final rendered appearance must be transparent.
