Modeling tool
Plane
Create associative construction planes for sketches, mirrors, splits, patterns, and other reference-driven tools.
Purpose
Create associative construction planes for sketches, mirrors, splits, patterns, and other reference-driven tools.
Where to find it
Open Model, open Construct, and choose Plane.
Selection
- Selection depends on Mode: a base plane, axis, surface, two planes, points, or a path and point.
Steps
- Choose Mode.
- Supply every reference requested by that mode and enter its numeric placement values.
- Review the plane preview and tap Apply.
Options
Mode
Chooses the construction rule and its required references.
OffsetAngleTangentMidplaneParallel PointThree PointsNormal Path
Offset
Creates a parallel plane at a signed distance from World Base or a selected Base plane.
Available when: Offset mode.
ƒ Accepts variables and expressions
World Base
Chooses Top, Front, or Right as the default base reference.
Available when: Offset mode.
Angle
Rotates Base about Axis by a signed angle.
Available when: Angle mode.
ƒ Accepts variables and expressions
Placement
Offset places the angled plane by distance; Through Point makes it pass through a selected point.
OffsetThrough Point
Available when: Angle mode.
Tangent
Creates a plane tangent to the selected supported curved Surface.
Available when: Tangent mode.
Midplane
Creates the plane halfway between First and Second compatible planar references.
Available when: Midplane mode.
Parallel Point
Creates a plane parallel to Base and passing through the selected Point.
Available when: Parallel Point mode.
Three Points
Creates a plane through three non-collinear selected points.
Available when: Three Points mode.
Normal Path
Creates a plane normal to Path at the selected Point.
Available when: Normal Path mode.
Result
Apply adds a persistent construction Plane under References.
Editing
Open the Plane feature in History to change its mode, references, angle, or offset.
Troubleshooting
The plane is undefined or flips unexpectedly.
Supply all mode-specific references, avoid coincident planes or collinear points, and use a stable path point.
