Sketch tool
Dimension
Create or edit lengths, radii, diameters, positions, perpendicular distances, point distances, circle clearances, and angles.
Purpose
Create or edit lengths, radii, diameters, positions, perpendicular distances, point distances, circle clearances, and angles.
Where to find it
While editing a sketch, open Constraints and choose Dimension, or select an existing dimension badge.
Selection
- Tap one entity for line length or circle size; select supported point, line, circle, or profile pairs for relational dimensions.
- For pair dimensions, the first selection moves and the second remains the reference.
Steps
- Select geometry until the intended dimension type appears.
- Enter Distance or Angle, choose modes and direction, then tap Apply.
Options
Result
Apply adds a driving relationship dimension only when its value can be satisfied; incompatible additions and edits to existing constraint dimensions are rejected without changing the sketch. Reference dimensions report measurements without driving geometry. A new placement dimension that conflicts with an existing driver is added as Reference instead of replacing the existing driver.
Editing
Tap a dimension badge to change value, mode, direction, resize anchor, driving state, or delete it.
Troubleshooting
The dimension conflicts or moves the wrong geometry.
Check selection order, use Flip or Resize Anchor, and remove competing dimensions, Fixed, or geometric constraints before retrying a rejected driving value. If MakerSolid reports that the new dimension was added as Reference, remove or change the existing driving dimension before trying again.
