Explode
Detach grouped semantic geometry such as text, imported vectors, rectangles, polygons, or slots into ordinary editable entities.
Purpose
Detach grouped semantic geometry such as text, imported vectors, rectangles, polygons, or slots into ordinary editable entities.
Where to find it
While editing a sketch, open Modify and choose Explode.
Selection
- Tap a grouped entity to select it, then tap it again to confirm detachment.
Steps
- Choose Explode.
- Tap the compound entity and tap again to detach it.
Options
Result
The visible shape remains but its child geometry can be edited independently and no longer follows the compound's specialized editor.
Editing
Edit the resulting entities with ordinary sketch tools; use Undo to restore the semantic group.
Troubleshooting
Explode appears to do nothing.
Select a compound text, imported, or grouped primitive rather than an already independent entity.
