MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Sketch tool

Perpendicular

Constrain two straight sketch lines to remain at 90 degrees.

Purpose

Constrain two straight sketch lines to remain at 90 degrees.

Where to find it

While editing a sketch, open Constraints and choose Perpendicular.

Selection

  • Tap the reference line and then the line that should become perpendicular.

Steps

  1. Select two lines.
  2. Confirm the second line takes the nearest perpendicular direction and any corners already joined to it stay connected. When the two lines meet, their shared corner remains the rotation pivot.

Options

Line pair

The selected lines define the perpendicular relationship; there is no numeric angle field.

Result

A Perpendicular constraint is added between the lines. On application, the second line adjusts by the smaller rotation around a shared corner when there is one, and previously joined corners remain connected. The first line stays in place when the other constraints allow it.

Editing

Use Manage Constraints in a relationship constraint panel and delete Perpendicular to restore independent directions.

Troubleshooting

The relationship over-constrains the sketch.

The first line stays selected as the reference. Tap a different second line, or remove conflicting angle, parallel, orientation, or fixed constraints. Tap directly on an edge away from a shared corner to avoid selecting the neighboring line.
