MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Modeling tool

Object Select

Switch viewport picking between individual geometry and complete model objects so bodies can be selected, transformed, or managed as a group.

Purpose

Switch viewport picking between individual geometry and complete model objects so bodies can be selected, transformed, or managed as a group.

Where to find it

In Model with Select active, use the cube-and-pointer Object Select button beside X-RAY at the lower left of the viewport.

Selection

  • No prior selection is required. Object Select changes how subsequent viewport taps are interpreted.

Steps

  1. Tap Object Select so the button uses the accent color and the status message reports that it is on.
  2. Tap a body to select the whole object; tap additional bodies to add them to the selection.
  3. Tap a selected body again to remove it, or turn Object Select off before selecting faces, edges, or profiles.

Options

Object Select On / Off

On makes viewport taps toggle complete objects; Off restores contextual face, edge, and profile selection.

The Model footer with X-RAY and the cube-and-pointer Object Select control enabled.

Multiple selection

Repeated taps add or remove whole bodies so compatible commands can operate on more than one object.

Object Selection Color

Settings > Selection controls the highlight used for selected objects independently from selected faces.

Result

The selected body IDs become the active whole-object selection; turning the mode off does not alter model geometry.

Editing

Change the selection at any time by tapping objects again, using Browser, or toggling Object Select off for sub-object picking.

Troubleshooting

A tap selects a face or edge instead of the whole body.

Return to Select, turn on the cube-and-pointer Object Select button, and confirm its accent highlight before tapping the body.

A tool will not accept the current object selection.

Read the tool prompt. Turn Object Select off when the command requires faces, edges, sketch profiles, axes, or planes.
