MakerSolid Documentation Version 1.5.2

Modeling tool

Linear Pattern

Repeat a selected body or feature in one or two straight directions.

Purpose

Repeat a selected body or feature in one or two straight directions.

Where to find it

Select the source body or feature in Model and choose Pattern > Linear.

Selection

  • Choose the source Target and a Direction reference. Enable Secondary Direction for a rectangular array.

Steps

  1. Select Target and primary Direction.
  2. Set Count and Spacing and choose Symmetric if required.
  3. Optionally configure Secondary Direction, choose Operation, review the preview, and tap Apply.

Options

Target

Chooses the body or supported feature to repeat.

Direction

Chooses the world axis, construction axis, or supported straight reference for spacing.

Count

Sets the number of instances in the primary direction and must be at least two.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Spacing

Sets signed center-to-center displacement between primary instances.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Symmetric

Distributes instances on both sides of the source instead of only forward.

Secondary Direction

Enables a second direction, Count, and Spacing for a two-dimensional pattern.

Secondary Count / Spacing

Control the number and displacement of instances in the second direction.

Available when: Shown when Secondary Direction is enabled.

ƒ Accepts variables and expressions

Operation

New Body preserves separate results; Join merges pattern results into the applicable body.

New BodyJoin

Result

Apply adds an associative Linear Pattern feature containing the requested instances.

Editing

Open Linear Pattern in History to change source, direction, counts, spacing, symmetry, or operation.

Troubleshooting

Instances overlap unexpectedly or Join fails.

Check the sign and size of Spacing, disable Symmetric if unwanted, and use New Body when repeated solids do not intersect a join target.
